Steps to Renovating an Apple iMac 7.1

1 Reasons to Renovate
An Apple iMac 7.1 was traded-in. Since it was a customer’s computer, it needs to be completely cleaned off and redone. All the customer files must be removed, and the Operating System needs to be refreshed. It was running OS X version 10.6.8. Upon examination, any newer OS X cannot be installed on this machine, so it would always be stuck at about 2011 with no updates in sight! In fact, Google Chrome, a browser that many people use, comes up and says that Chrome is no longer supported on this machine!

After Examination, we determined that this iMac 7.1 came with only 1GB of RAM memory! It runs super slow, which was why it was traded-in. RAM Memory can be updated to 2, 3, or 4gb. This would increase its speed significantly.

2. Upgrade RAM
A total RAM upgrade, replacing the 1gb installed to 4gb installed  Concierge Priced $ 30.00 Cash

3a. REDO Operating System to highest level that it can handle, which in this unit’s case was Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Need Apple Install Disk
I made an attempt to get the Apple Operating System Files – was unable to get them because of the age of the computer. At this point, I had a “boat Anchor” to recycle only. If you have the OS Disks, I would estimate this to be from $60.00 to $100.00 total

3b. REDO Operating System to Linux Mint 18.2 – Use the Apple iMac 7.1 to build a different “style” computer – more like a PC. Estimate: $ 60-100 Cash or Trade
